As the 1st Prize winner of the 2010 Mary Jacobs Smith Singer of the Year competition at Shreveport Opera, Jessica Medoff defines the Renaissance woman in music throughout all genres. Ms. Medoff continues to expand her musical horizons while stretching the limits of creativity. From Bartok to Bacharach and back to Bernstein, Ms. Medoff has impressed audiences throughout the United States with her style, charm and commitment to text and music. Her operatic repertoire roles include Judith in Bartok’s Bluebeard’s Castle, Musetta in La Bohème, Micaela in Carmen, Donna Elvira in Don Giovanni, the title role in Suor Angelica, The Governess in Turn of the Screw, Hanna Glawari in The Merry Widow, The Witch in Hänsel und Gretel, The Sorceress in Dido and Aeneas, and Pamina in Die Zauberflöte. Ms. Medoff has sung with the opera companies of New Jersey, Lake George, Natchez Music Festival, Ash Lawn and the Aspen Opera Theater Center. Her cabaret shows, which also feature her husband Michael Bunchman as pianist/collaborator, provide opportunities to perform in several venues throughout the United States. She holds a Bachelor of Music from the University of Colorado and a Master of Music from the University of Michigan.
Musical Theater, POPS and Cabaret
Jessica Medoff has the extraordinary ability to adapt to
several genre throughout the musical world. Her appearances
in The Sound of Music at Ash Lawn brought her to the
attention of conductor Jerry Steichen. She was a featured
soloist in An Evening of Sondheimat the Aspen Opera
Theater Center and has appeared at Dona Ana Lyric Opera
as Maria in The Sound of Music, Dorothy in The Wizard of Oz and Ally in Extinction: A Love Story.
A frequent guest on the POPS concert circuit, Ms. Medoff
was invited again this year to the Breckenridge Music Festival
in Colorado. This year’s concerts include Swing at the
Summit, and Bacharach and Friends. Previously she has
performed Holiday Extravaganza with the New Haven
Symphony Orchestra and an All Bernstein benefit with the
Aspen Music Festival under the direction of David Zinman.
Her Original Cabaret show, which also features her husband
Michael Bunchman as pianist and collaborator, has provided
the opportunity to perform in several venues throughout the
United States. Featured shows have included Gershwin and
Beyond: Celebrating Contemporary American Composers;
Bite of the Apple; and The Truth about Love...and the Usual
Lies.
Orchestral and Chamber Music
In addition to A Grand Italian Opera Evening with the Breckenridge
Music Festival, Ms. Madoff has sung with the Sybarite Quartet in The
Dido Project; appeared as soloist in Faure ´Requiem with Mid-America
Productions and performed the Chansons Madegasses with the
Luzerne Chamber Music Festival.

Center. As an advocate of contemporary music, Jessica
Medoff has performed with the Center for Contemporary
Opera and The Cell in the role of Mille in Dinner and Delusion by Michael Sahl. She also debuted the role of Ally in the
world premiere of Bob Diven’s Extinction: A Love Story.

Ms. Medoff has worked with conductors on both the operatic
and concert stage. They include David Zinman, Julius Rudel,
Jerry Steichen, William Boggs, Martin Katz, Steven
Mosteller, Gerhardt Zimmermann, John Douglas, Brian
DeMarisand Michael Linville.
She has also worked under the direction of Josh Major, John
Hoomes, Bill Farbis, Ed Berkeley, Pat Dimond, David
LefkowichKiraSimring, Mark Verzatt and Mark Medoff.
Education and Awards
Jessica Medoff was named Singer of the Year, 2010 by Shreveport Opera.
She was a finalist in the Metropolitan Opera Council Auditions
for the Rocky Mountain Region; a winner and
Audience Favorite for the Harold Haugh Competition under the
auspices of the Comic Opera Guild of Ann Arbor, MI; and a finalist in
the Denver Lyric Opera Competition, and a finalist in Rochester Oratorio Societies Opera Idol.
